"The exhibition "Mouvement" was created in close cooperation with the French Consulate General and the Institut français Hamburg. It shows works by artists from German- and French-speaking countries and symbolizes the friendship between the two countries.
This summer, Germany and France are celebrating a summer of culture and sport. France is hosting the Olympic Games and Germany the European Football Championship. The Melbye-Konan Gallery celebrates the common values that unite the two countries through the organization of these world-class sporting events.
The title "Mouvement" deliberately allows for multiple interpretations, including political, historical, social, sporting and artistic movements, which the artists explore in different ways. Galerie Melbye-Konan presents both abstract and figurative working artists from different countries and shows how they explore movement through color, internal processes, and social or political influences. "Mouvement" brings together these interpretations and invites the viewer to engage with the various dialogues presented in the exhibition. (...)"
