The large-format works of Hungarian artist Márta Kucsora have just arrived in Hamburg from the Kunsthalle Budapest. Stella Melbye-Konan, who recently opened a second location on Mittelweg in addition to her gallery on Jungfernstieg, which specialises in African art, is presenting the exhibition ‘Monumentalis’.
Kucsora's paintings mesmerise viewers with their size, complexity and emotional power. To achieve this, the painter often combines strong colours, complicated textures and thought-provoking themes. The exhibition was curated by the artist and gallery owner together with art experts and the Hamburg collector Harald Falckenberg.
‘Monumentalis: Márta Kucsora’ until 30 June, Galerie Melbye-Konan (Bus 19), Mittelweg 169, appointments by appointment on T. 0152/53 20 86 81, www.melbye-konan.com
