Jungle of Encounters
April 1, 2025

From March 29 to June 14, 2025, Galerie Melbye-Konan presents the solo exhibition Jungle of Encounters by Yannick Ackah (born 1992 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire). Spanning 400 square meters, the exhibition unfolds Ackah’s artistic vision, which blends African traditions with Western influences.

Ackah is considered one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary art. His dynamic canvas works center around the motif of the mask—a bridge from his African roots to Picasso and Modernism, and further to Basquiat and the New York graffiti scene.

A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Abidjan, Ackah has already exhibited internationally on several occasions. In 2024, his works were featured in Persona, curated by Harald Falckenberg, as well as in Mouvement, a collaboration with the French Consulate.

He has been nominated for the 2025 Norval Sovereign African Art Prize.
