The Hamburg gallery Melbye-Konan is pleased to welcome its art collectors in the future on 400 sqm in the Apartimentum in the well-known Mittelweg on the Alster.
The premises are located on the ground floor of the prestigious building complex - Apartimentum - which the owner Lars Hinrichs, ex-founder of Xing, had completely renovated in 2015 and equipped with the latest technology. This makes the building one of the "smartest houses in Germany".
Hamburg's Mittelweg runs parallel to the western bank of the Outer Alster past historic Art Nouveau villas. Together with other renowned galleries, the Sotheby's auction house and numerous consulates, such as the French and US consulates, the gallery becomes part of a prestigious as well as cultural quarter.
The light-flooded architecturally outstanding exhibition rooms with a ceiling height of five metres and an exhibition area of 400 square metres offer space for creative design concepts at museum level. The gallery's programme focuses on contemporary art, especially with reference to Africa. The gallery exhibits the best-known artists from Africa in dialogue with established Western artists.
Melbye-Konan Gallery is one of the top galleries in Germany and, according to Artnet, one of the galleries on the "Venice Biennale Power List". Currently, the artist Yeanzi, exlusively represented by the gallery, is exhibiting at the Biennale Arte de Venezia in the Ivory Coast Pavilion (23 April - 27 November 2022).
The gallery exhibits at international art fairs and collaborates with museums, institutions and auction houses for curatorial projects. International collectors, who even come to Hamburg especially from Paris, London, New York and Hong Kong, among others, appreciate Stella Melbye-Konan's more than 10 years of experience in the field of modern and contemporary art. She has curated exhibitions and worked in renowned museums and institutions such as the Center Pompidou, the Musée Carnavalet and with the French star architect Dominique Perrault.
